Carol Ash, DO, D, ABSM
Medical Director

A board-certified sleep and pulmonary specialist, Dr. Ash has more than 10 years of experience in sleep medicine. A former partner in RespaCare Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in Bridgewater, she previously served as director of the Cardio Sleep Center in Old Bridge and the medical director of the Albert A. Marks, Jr. Sleep Disorder Center at Bacharach Rehabilitation Hospital in Pomona.

Dr. Ash is a graduate of Seton Hall University in South Orange and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey’s (UMDNJ) School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford. She completed her medical training in critical care medicine, pulmonary medicine and internal medicine at UMDNJ’s Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Stratford.

Jeffrey Sank, RRT, RPSGT
Clinical Manager

Mr. Sank joined the staff in June 1998 and has served as the Respiratory Therapy department's supervisor and team leader. He held previous positions at Our Lady of Lourdes in Camden, NJ; Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ; and St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, providing all aspects of respiratory therapy from neonatal to adult critical care and trauma. In 1999, Mr. Sank became involved in the development and management of the sleep program at Somerset Medical Center.

Mr. Sank graduated Phi Theta Kappa from UMDNJ-SHRP and Camden County College in 1995. He maintains memberships to the National Board of Respiratory Care, American Association of Respiratory Care, American Association of Sleep Technologists and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. 

James R. Smith, MD
Internal Medicine and Sleep Medicine Specialist

Board-certified in both internal medicine and sleep medicine, Dr. Smith is an honors graduate of Seton Hall University. He received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), where he later was an assistant professor in the department of Internal Medicine after completing his residency at New Jersey Medical School Integrated Residency Program. Dr. Smith has served a fellowship in sleep medicine at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. A member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the New Jersey Sleep society, he has 14 years of experience in sleep medicine and internal medicine and has published articles in a wide variety of academic medical journals.
